introducing… lil hedgehog

10 months later, that’s it.  wow!  is she already 10 months old?  where did all the time go?

anyway, for the first time.. making her debut in this blog.  lil hedgehog (a very lovely nickname given by lil j)

lil hedgehog aka lil k at one month old.

lil hedgehog aka lil k at one month old.

and she just keep growing.

My name is cutie - a gift from Oma.

and before i get enough of holding the tiny little her, she was all ready to “get up and go”

i was quite sure she was trying to make the pouty lips look. she was cat-walking on the couch. one of the outfit i sewn for her, which lil j thought it was a fairy dress - he said the tie at the back is the fairy wings. my lil j is such a sweet boy :)

and now at 10 month old – with 4 teeth, loves music, special liking for “twinkle twinkle little star”, very much into Thomas the Tank Engine (thanks to lil j), extremely sociable and happy, tremendously loud (especially when crying – and it can go on for a long time), lover of food – especially gourmet meals, cruising around fast and almost ready to walk, and very tough with quite stubborn character emerging…

a very playful and cheeky girl. but don't mess with her. lil j will tell you she is not easy!

and i have indeed been sewing up a storm for this lil monster!  just don’t grow up so fast please lil k, ok?

and a year later

i went missing second day into the KCWC challenge last year.  succumbed to my PGP, so I slowed down.. and was not quite in the mood to blog.

then i just rested, and enjoyed the company of my parents.  and their cooking.  and my growing belly, and all those in between.

then lil hedgehog made her debut.  easy and fast, but extremely loud.  she is getting louder by the day now.

and we went away, all of us, for a good two months.  for a break, for a holiday.  or maybe not quite.  but we were away.

then we came back, and before we could resume normalcy with a new member in tow, we found our dream home.  so we packed, and packed, and packed, and then we moved.  and then we unpacked, and unpacked some more… you get the drift.

and after a year and a bit later… i am back.

yes, the sewing machine is not in storage anymore, and it has been used a fair bit.

and i will (fingers crossed) be updating on new things sewn… soon.  as soon as i find the strength to upload the photos 😉

and i had to share this which basically describe most of my days now.  (someone emailed to me, sorry i can’t credit the orginal source)

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:4

i have abandoned my blog.. NOT!

ok, so i missed Christmas, and the New Year.  i am a terrible blogger!  in my mind though, i updated so frequently.  it just didn’t show up here 😛

i have been rather ill since early November.  a bout of flu and cough, followed by another.  lost my voice shortly before Christmas and then the coughing and a nasty cold caught up again!  New Year came and voila!  it is already half month into January!

BUT perhaps, the best Christmas/New Year gift of all time from God!

yes, this little peanut (13 weeks now), nicked “the hedgehog” by lil j was one of the reasons for my tardiness in updating.  the morning sickness, aka day-and-night-sickness was taking toll on me.  drinking water made me ill (and still does now), every smell that has never bothered me before became so unbearable, i lost count of my vomiting bout.  all these were so different from when I was pregnant with lil j.  in fact, I had almost none of these the first time round!  having said that, our family is thrilled!  lil j loves putting his head on my tum and keep telling me his “hedgehog” said hi to him, and is swimming inside my tummy.

so yeah, we are extremely thankful for God’s blessing.

on my sewing front, which what this blog should be about… i have not been very productive as i would have like to.  i was almost always tired, and therefore when lil j naps, i took the opportunity to have naps myself.  in the midst though, i did made him a pair of shorts from his daddy’s old shirt, experimented with another one of his daddy’s shirt to make it into a mini version for lil j, completed the activity book for a little boy (just in time for Christmas), and mended a few clothes here and there.

so there… an update finally… i have not abandoned my blog surely.  and i will be updating again soon.. sneak peek of what’s coming up next…

a very colourful and playful dress

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12: 1-2

pram liner and blanket

when we went for a winter holiday last year, lil j refused to sit in the pram because it was rather cold.  so sometime in April, i decided to make a pram liner to make it cozier for him.

i bought 2 metre of polar fleece (yes, way too much!) and ended up with a pram liner with matching blanket (and a little bag for the blanket – with BIG buttons), a single-sized blanket which he is using now, a mini blanket for j’s teddy and with one final rectangle left, i made a hot water cover for myself.  2m that goes a long way!

a fully reversible pram liner with matching blanket (in a bag) for lil j's peg perego.

so yesterday we decided to go down to the city for a walk.  we took the train as lil j is fond of trains.  we had a great day watching street performances (lil j is particularly interested in musicians), had a scrumptious lunch of absolutely delicious pork ribs (though lil j was not a big fan, he went instead for the herb rolls, and charmed a waitress that she came back countless times and took him for a walk round the restaurant – he even gave her a kiss before we left!).  after that, we tucked him into the pram and gave him the blankie.  he then just closed his eyes and took his FIRST ever nap in the PRAM – first ever in his 20-odd month! (previously, he only naps in the carrier when we were out – first few months on the breeze baby sling and subsequently the ergo carrier.)

peacefully asleep in his pram and all covered up with his 'nitenite' (he refers to his blankie as nitenite)

dear hubz enjoying his mcflurry while lil j continues to nap away. lil j had a good time chasing the seagull after he woke up from his power nap.

and today, we did the same thing when it was time for his nap.  he took longer to doze off this time, maybe because we were in the mall and it was rather noisy.  eventually, he pulled the blankie to cover his face and zzz away!  now… that is making that very little effort of making the liner and blankie all worth while!

on another (un)related note.  lil j attended sunday school for the first time today!  as i feared the separation anxiety of having to leave him behind (yes, mama can’t take it), i asked dear hubz to send him down.  apparently, he went straight to the toys when dear hubz brought him to his class, and did not even care when daddy left!  when i went to pick him from class later, upon seeing me, he came over and showed me the biscuit in his hand and said ‘auntie gives biscuit’.  he was apparently a nice kid in class, munching the biscuit while colouring away when given the colour pencil.  he joined in the prayer appropriately and said ‘amen’ as soon as prayer is over (and i kind of wish i was there to witness every single moment – yes i know, super emo mama).  and did i mention he never for once asked for daddy or mama!

two firsts in two days.. and many more to come!

and lil j learnt about Adam and Eve, and Noah today 🙂

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.  Genesis 1:27
