Fun in the Farm Series – Custom Order

this dress is one my my first custom-made orders 🙂  and the last panel of the farm themed fabric in my stash.

made two weeks ago for a girl named Sophie, who will be celebrating her birthday in a week’s time.

this dress was sized 4T. it has a little pocket and comes with ruffled hem. i also hand embroidered my label on it.

the back of the dress. this was as close as possible to what was requested by Sophie's mom. with rickracks trim added for fun factor.

i love how colourful and playful this dress turned out.  and especially since this will be the last piece featuring the farm themed fabric (unless i can find it and re-order).

i hope Sophie will be delighted when she received this in the mail 🙂 thanks, Sharon!

next challenge coming up.  refashioning a formal wear for my lil j for a wedding we are going to attend this weekend.. stay tuned 😉

i’ve been sewing hard!

yes i have!  despite the lackadaisical blog update… ok, minus the short holiday we just had.  and minus the one week of being a gum tree to a sticky little koala who was down with HFM…

and, i got the ball rolling too on my new store!  etsy to follow.. soon… yippie!

in fact, i had wanted to “launch” an edition of what i termed the “Fun in the Farm” range for my new store but 3 out of the 5 pieces of my work were presented as gifts before hitting the “store”.

this one, the first one made, was "sold" to my lovely niece with lots of hugs and kisses... hmm.. i think it was all worth while 🙂

this was especially made for Sarah, whom upon seeing the one for her sister, Jenna, pleaded with me to make her one.

this piece was specially made for my friend's new bundle of joy. i had lots of fun making (and seam ripping) the bloomers to match the dress. i can't wait to see little Zoe in them!

and then i made 2 more and have them listed here.  along which i have listed some other items, and hopefully, will continue to sew hard to sell more items!

but for now, it’s time to look through the pictures of our recent short break…and wish we were still enjoying the sun and sea and sand… (did i mention that i sewn a few things for lil j for that holiday as well?  i will try to update those soon…)

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-39

the Sarah dress

while the families were here, my machine was taking a well deserved break.  ok, not quite.. i did mend a few items, and actually made one dress 🙂  sew i must…

but this post is not about that dress (will save it for the next post).. hehe.. this one is another pinny i made sometime ago which was given to my niece, Sarah when she was here.  she wore it the first day i gave it to her, but i forgot to take any pictures 😦

let me just call this the Sarah dress. it is a pinafore with bubble skirt, and a matching sash sewn in place and fully lined.

the back of the dress with the pretty ribbon tie.

the little detail on both sides of the skirt hem. i am not sure what technique this is, but i thought this look rather lovely to an otherwise plain bubble skirt.

meanwhile, as we get back to our routines after the family has gone home, i’ve started on a project that i’ve been meaning to work on.  it’s rather exciting and it has some farm theme to it… can’t wait to get that going!

i love the red barn house! something fun in the farm is coming up soon!

bubble dress/balloon dress

yay!  i am so happy i (ahem!) designed and sewn another dress!

well, lil j’s new friend has invited us for her 1st birthday party this weekend.  naturally i got excited. not only for lil j (who is happily practising happy birthday song lately, and is learning to ‘make new friends’) but also for the opportunity to hand made another gift for a little girl.

a pinafore was what i had in mind but i also thought it would be quite plain.  so i decided to combine a pinny with a bubble dress and the result was a lovely piece that i so, so wished lil j was a girl for a moment so that i could dress her up!  (i know, the same sentiment each time i made a dress)  but it’s ok, i know some other little girl will be wearing it, and i am just as happy i get the chance to make it for her.

made with printed cotton, i added two little bow on the shoulder straps near the buttons

big bow at the bottom back - it would be really cute to see when the little one start walking 🙂
