while i have not been updating as much as i would really loved to, i have been making the sewing machine work hard (as well as the vacuum cleaner no doubt).
i am not sure if the need to organise has led me to sew more stuff, or the need to sew has led me to wanting to organise… but i guess that’s not important 😛 what matter is that what was once a bit of an eye sore has now been turned into something pleasant. i mean, take a look at this:
see those bags stuffed at the side of the dish rack? yeah, that was how i conveniently leave the bags to be reused as bin bags.. yup, i know, totally untidy...
the solution - a kitchen bag holder/organiser! the appliques were done with scrap from my stash from previous projects 🙂
now doesn't that make the area tidier and much more pleasant?
i got the idea for this bag holder from this magazine actually. but my version is much smaller, and instead of draw string casing on the top, i made tie pieces and attached to the back of the holder. i did some appliques as well as hand stitching, and i especially like the butterfly and the little trail… i think i might be doing more embroidery in the future (something that i have not done since maybe some 20 years ago!)
On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4
i think lil j must have suddenly grown taller in the last couple of weeks or so… i noticed most of his pants are getting somewhat shorter, and i don’t think they have shrunk (or maybe i was merely looking for an excuse for me to make more pants for him)
regardless, i was rather “productive” last week. i made him two pairs of new pants! did i mention how he is always excited and eager when i showed him something new i made for him? (usually first thing when he wakes up from him nap) and that he would happily and obligingly put them on. and refused to take them off later. ahh.. maybe that’s why i keep wanting to make stuff for him 😉
my first attempt at a reversible pants. mainly because the weather is getting colder, uh, and reversible means seams are hidden.
the reversed side of the pants. i thought it looked boring so i added the lil caterpillar on the butt. only because lil j is into the hungry caterpillar now - we read at least 20 times a day!! (he calls it nom-nom) i have never done applique before, and the felted caterpillar was actually handstitched on after having completed the pants. well, he loved it, and has already worn them twice since i finished it last tuesday
